Messages - Fire Wraith

#1
After some consideration (and several player reports received after a recent issue), Loki (aka Lysander etc) has been banned from the server.

The short version of this is that we had to remove their ECL character for violating the expected bounds of their PC race, claiming something different to other PCs (specifically newer ones that didn't know better), after being explicitly told in no uncertain terms by us previously to stop. Their response to being held accountable for this (which was decidedly unapologetic to say the least), combined with several highly concerning reports on related and other matters, have led us to conclude that we need to make their declared "quitting" permanent.

Note that we banned the EmberEffigy as the latest alias of Moxxie/Kabran/Jawesome. See Nok's post above for full details of the original reason for this ban (which they were attempting to avoid/circumvent).

Midwinter Teatime at Castle Truesilver

Evaelyn Truesilver wishes to invite various adventuresome young nobles of the Kingdom to afternoon tea on various days, as a way to make social connections and introductions, as well as to share tales and gossip from around Cormyr and beyond.[/font]

OOC Information:

Purpose - This is intended to help organize some social events for Noble PCs, in a semi-informal manner. I was planning to host these in Castle Truesilver, but we can always consider other spots as well!
When - Flexible, but ideally we'll try and plan ahead a little, and sort out when works best for everyone. I imagine we can do more than one rather than try to find a golden time that gets 100% of us at once.
Where - Castle Truesilver primarily, but other places can work, including the noble meeting rooms of the Royal Court, or the Society of Stalwart Adventurers, just to suggest a few.
Who - Any inherited or titled noble PCs (Baronet or above). Plus-Ones and Knights aren't something I was initially planning on but we could expand to them as need be. I'm tagging everyone on my list, but may miss a few so feel free to poke me if I have!
What - This is purely a player social event with no quest or DM involvement (at least not as planned) though anyone wanting to could certainly do something with it!

Yes - if you're just starting out it may be easier to just remake, and then use the Archiver NPC in the OOC/AFK room to remove the old version.

For more established PCs, you can submit a relevel or rebuild request, and then ping the DMs on discord in the Support channel.

Just to update this, the player "Illy" is fully banned from the server, not just Discord. We never had to address it previously as they'd long since stopped playing prior to the issues with them in Discord, but due to their long history of disruptive and problematic behavior, both IC and OOC, they are not welcome on this server.

To note, the following supplemental characters have been added to the list, and may request either of the two feats:
Isandra
Eina Laurina Taure
Corvyana
Roscoe
#7
And if you are on that list, you can request a DM grant the appropriate feat, or let us know to remove you from the list if you don't want it.
#8
So as people may have noticed, we've removed the default "Epic Reputation" feat, and replaced it with two new feats - Epic Reputation (Fame) and Epic Reputation (Influence).

These are meant to be something given out as a story/storyline award for meaningful involvement and roleplay in major plot lines, and recognize the impact of the deeds of some characters, providing minor skill bonuses, and a roleplay impact as far as how future NPCs will generally treat that PC. We have two versions in that one represents a character who is widely known, for good or bad, and will be easily recognized by most or all people (Fame). This will play out as fame or infamy depending on the location - an evil drow PC might be famous in the Underdark, and infamous in Cormyr, while a Cormyrian would be famous in Cormyr but infamous in Zhentil Keep, and so forth. The other represents a character whose deeds are known not far and wide, but in more quiet circles - among thieves, spies, assassins, Harpers, and various secretive shadowy types and those who associate with them good or bad, and it represents a reputation not by name, but by mystique, possibly a cover name or symbol, and thus is more for shadowy characters who don't want to be recognized openly.

Given that there are a number of characters we feel are likely qualified for this, the DM staff has put together an initial list. Note that you don't have to take this if you don't feel it's warranted for you, or don't feel that either of these fits your character, especially given that there can be RP/IC drawbacks to having them depending on the situation.
Additionally, if you feel you should be on this list, but aren't, let us know and we'll consider it. Even if we don't think your character does yet, you're certainly eligible for it from ongoing and future plots!

##### Further Accolades in Cormyr

Once a character is a noble, whether by birth or being granted a title, Cormyrian nobles in particular have additional options to earn further status through demonstrated loyalty, responsibility, and service. This comes in two forms, being granted a hereditary title, and ranks of distinction. These are only attained through continued displays of both IC and OOC responsibility on a character/player's part.

Hereditary titles are just that. It allows the character to ICly pass their title to their children, and essentially creates them as founder/head of a (minor) Cormyrian noble house. For those born to existing noble families, they becomes the head of their own Cadet branch of the family, while knights and baronets become a new house entirely. This house has no assets and no special power/influence, but it does come with the IC right to have a country manor (subject to normal housing rules) within Cormyr. Players are NOT required to retire on attaining this, although becoming the head of an existing (canon) noble House still requires it (due to the influence/resources). Note that this is only open to Human characters, as above, because the nobility of Cormyr will not ICly accept non-humans being raised up as hereditary peers.

Ranks of distinction are the typical Noble titles. In Cormyr, these have no actual meaning other than fluff, and possibly seating order at a formal noble dinner. Even if associated with a place, they do not grant any control or lands, and are simply vestigial/honorary. They are also not used as a title of address (it's always "my Lord/Lady" regardless of such, e.g., "Lord Blunderblatt, Baron of Hogswallow" gets called Lord Blunderblatt/my Lord, etc). Note that these MAY be granted to non-hereditary titles (e.g., Storm Silverhand is also the Marchioness Immerdusk).

Duke/Duchess (presently not available to players)
Marchion/Marchioness
Earl/Countess
Viscount/Viscountess
Baron/Baroness
Baronet/Baronetess (granted to those given a minor non-hereditary title by default)

Lastly, spouses of such hold an equivalent courtesy title, while Children/blood relatives of a title holder are treated socially as if they held a courtesy title one rank below for every degree of removal. That is, the child of a Duke or Marchion is treated socially as if equivalent to an Earl/Countess, a grandchild would be as a Viscount/Viscountess, while an Earl's grandnephew would be treated socially as a Baronet. This is NOT a title of address, they don't get called that, etc.

The player "SurveyofDarkness" and a few other aliases has been banned from the server for continued issues related to IC and OOC harassment/metagaming of multiple other players. While we try to avoid having to remove people where disagreements and personality clashes come into play, in this particular instance we felt we had no choice when the behavior continued after the player was warned about it, and instead spread to other players leading to continued complaints. Unfortunately when something escalates to this level, we're left with little choice but to remove the disruptive player before other players feel they don't have any recourse other than to quit playing.

This isn't a decision we make easily, and it comes with a lot of deliberation, which is oftentimes why it seems like we're slow to act - but please be assured we're going to prioritize keeping this a place where people feel they can safely play and tell their stories.

The player "bruiser" aka Moretto has been banned from the Discord and the Server, after a prolonged history and earned reputation of being abrasive and disruptive culminated in a situation on the Discord where they became argumentative with staff members when told they needed to comply with the Discord rules on appropriate subject matter, and then proceeded to continue to escalate the situation, moving to a different channel, and continuing passive-aggressive complaints about being told to stop, as well as harassing several players over the matter in direct messages. When finally kicked off the Discord after repeated warnings, they proceeded to log in game and begin arguing with the staff, in continued "Sealioning" fashion, doubling down each time they were asked, then told, again, to let the matter drop, at which point the senior staff essentially had enough of the continued disruptive behavior.

To summarize, none of us wants to punish, let alone ban, anyone, least of all for simply disagreeing with us. But ultimately, rules enforcement is something there are only so many appeals, especially in clear cut cases. And while we tend to give an immense amount of slack, second and further chances, and want nothing more than that to just not have to worry about it. Ultimately though, if someone is just consistently obnoxious, argumentative, and disruptive to the point that none of us want them around, then they'll eventually wear out their welcome.
