Fully endorsed!

To put a finer point on it, having a wider variety of lore tomes supports the "make your own rp" element of a persistent world more than most anything else, especially given that the investment cost is overall pretty low and there tends to be a sizeable portion of the player base that shares a love for engaging with the tangible, fiction of the world.

Thank you for the response, SpacePope. I wasn't aware of any items with the "Returning Property" in NWN and look forward to obtaining such a weapon.

After seeing 0-1 loot drops of Throwing Daggers after about 1.5 months of play, and finding relatively few green-tier ones even in the global pawn (and no Throwing Daggers of Blue/Purple-tier), I would say this weapon is exceedingly rare for those of us who use them.

How can a throwing dagger build character obtain a more reliable supply of good quality Throwing Daggers?

The absence of this item in loot drops exacerbates the issues inherent with Throwing Dagger characters, namely that the weapon has bottom-end damage output (20/x2 crit, 1d4 base damage), and does not share the same Weapon Focus/Improved Critical feat chain as regular daggers (like a DM might grant freely in pen-n-paper).

(On the upside, I was very happy to see that C&D made a throwing dagger model because the dart model isn't a very cool vibe!)

Parry could have been left out of the original game. To me, Parry feels like what Expertise is supposed to be, only without the 13 INT requirement.

That the Parry skill fails to pick up extra attacks in a "flurry" makes it wildly unpredictable in its usefulness for the steep price of your character not making attacks (unless you manage the +10 differential for a riposte).

General Discussion / Taunting in NWN
Dec 02, 2025, 02:52 PM
Seeking confirmation/tips from others regarding the Taunt skill. It would be great rp with my current character, but I believe problematic in actual practical use.

It is my understanding that Taunt is a particularly clunky maneuver to pull off in NWN. I'm uncertain if the mechanic has been smoothed out in EE over the years. Secondly, since initiating a Taunt leaves a PC flat-footed, it sounds like it would do far more harm than good to use for light-armored roguish characters, since a disproportionate amount of your AC is going to be lost by going flat-footed (in close melee range no less).
