Will there be an optional subscription for those of us who prefer to be scammed monthly and consistently?   8)

I have a follower of the Red Lady that might be interested, depending on the context!
Oh, it's for two character who are followers of some archfiend and who were tasked with sacrificing a follower of Red Knight, so we need a volunteer for an horrible death after a night of torture and knowing the soul of your character will be eternally tormented.

Sounds like a party!   :D

Pixies are goodly critters who agree to be wizard familiars. No reason a myconid can't. Just sayin'...

I completely forgot about the pixie, so, good point!

Aren't myconids...intelligent, peaceful little humanoids(in shape, not in type)?

I think most goodly characters would see a myconid "familiar" as more of a slave than anything else.  :\  That might get a little dicey.

I would like to point out Ladybug sneaked in a 9th spot on the Spoofine quest to include someone and that's:

1) Awesomely nice of her.
2) Shows the team really cares about including players.
That appears to have been me, actually, that got included.
Although it didn't appear to be completely full when I was typing my post out.

I did have *other* hesitations about joining that quest (mostly I have no idea what its about) but on urging from friends I signed up.

What is Spoofini about?  It's about 90% candy puns.  :D

While unfortunately there will always be more people wanting to join events than DM avaliable to run them (a big problem even in tabletop!), my advice is to sign up anyway.  Sign up for everything you could make, as an alt.

I've gotten into a lot of quests in the past just as an alt, because things happen, people can't show up, or people decide to drop a quest for some reason.  Not always, but eventually, if you keep signing up!

Another tip is to turn on notifications for quest announcements in Discord  so you can get an alert the moment one is posted.  It sucks to miss the opening hour when slots fill fastest, and this can increase your odds of seeing it.

Me too!  xD  It was such an exciting time.

Every now and then I'll try to revisit NWN just for the SP stuff and even with that, I just can't.  Game is so strange.
Pff. Boring. Dual-Wielding Scythes. :P

Dream even bigger!

Dual-weild two-bladed swords!   :D

More XP will not enhance roleplay, nor will it remove any feelings of ""not being part of something". What it will do, is help you level faster.

"Forward progression", as you call it, is another way of saying "leveling faster".

You could have proposed a lot of new reward systems or DM events to encourage roleplay, but you proposed more XP.  XP is not used for roleplaying, it is used for: leveling.

EDIT: (Also, I want to add that I'm not trying to beat you up here OP, I'm trying to help you to see a simple truth: More XP will not actually make you happier.  This is an RP server, and while there are certainly suggestions that could enhance or improve roleplay, it's never "more XP".  That's entirely unrelated.)

If this did not boil down to wanting to level faster, then why propose more XP gain?

You are correct that FOMO can be unhealthy, but allowing additional ticks beyond the daily limit, even at 1xp, creates an additional "fear of missing out" by encouraging people to play as much as possible to soak up extra XP.  The solution you are proposing does not eliminate this problem but exacerbates it.

If I may be somewhat blunt, every proposed XP change I see on the forums boils down to "I want to level faster" (including this one), which is not something that necessarily helps the server any.  Many of us feel that leveling is already too fast, and there is way too much energy being spent on worrying about levels and XP instead of just roleplaying your characters and enjoying the journey.

I've pondered the idea before of slitting the turn/level buffs into "long duration" (hour/level) and "encounter duration" (round/level) buffs before for the exact reason you describe, because it does seems elegant on its surface. However, like so many things in game design this is not a quick and easy fix, but would introduce a ton of knock-on effects that would take a ton of work to resolve:

- Some spells like Mindblank would become extremely powerful, only able to be lost on dispel.  For some this may be seen as a positive, but it would dramatically shift the flow of dungeoning in ways that would need to be playtested before committing to such a sweeping change.

- It de-emphasizes feats like Extend Spell and makes scroll-casting much closer to real casting.  I tend to not be in favor of things that homogenize the abilities and features classes bring to the table, since party dynamics are fundamental to the D&D experience.  Right now, getting buffs like displacement or Emotions from a proper mage feels much stronger, with durations that can go the distance.  This would be lost if the base spells lasted an hour/level.

- Resource consumption is part of the game loop.  Items that give short term buffs, scrolls, and rods that give spells are part of the cost of dungeoning, and longer-term buffs would need to be used less often.  On a server where gold is already far too easy to obtain, I don't believe removing more gold sinks is the wisest move.

There's just a ton of balance issues this could create, and a high cost of development time/work, for very minor benefit: RP in dungeons absolutely still happens on CD, particularly with a few more levels under your belt, but it tends to be fast-paced quips, dialogue, and emotes because we are all still there to do the dungeon.  Longer duration buffs is unlikely to change that.

Because an impromptu cooking class was some of the most fun and creative RP for so many PCs that I've seen in awhile!  (And for so many other great quests, but this one delighted me most recently)

Suggestions Archive / Classes and Skills
Sep 03, 2021, 08:37 PM
I know it is not the way it's done in tabletop 3.5, but I would really like to see the non-mechanical, RP-only skills opened up to more classes, perhaps even all classes.  Skills such as Persuade, Bluff, Perform, Sense Motive, Intimidate and Knowledge are skills that don't feel like they should be tied to the training or discipline of any specific class, but rather be choices in how characters practice behaving or spend their free time.  I know you are able to cross-class these skills, but this quickly becomes an extreme investment when skill points are already so limited for non-rogues and non-bards (the two that have most of these RP-only skills available to them, anyway).

I think it would really open up characters to being more interesting and diverse, with more room for quirks and hobbies shown with their skill ranks.  Rogues and Bards still have the perk of getting so many skillpoints, it would be nice if other classes could spend those that they do get on more flavor.

Off Topic / Character Theme Song, version 3.0
Aug 13, 2021, 09:58 PM
Alexia Vilkova has gone through a lot of different songs for parts of her life, but today she knows a core truth about herself:  That she is nothing without those she leans on to hold her up; to a higher standard, to a better example, and to remind her that some people are worth saving.
