Hope your stay is in good health and know that when you return, you'll have a place here.
Good luck, and make sure to keep in touch.

(P.S. love you too)

It's been a slow process but yes.

Largely due to each one of their abilities needing to be custom scripted and some features that were required needing to be implemented and so on.

We don't have an ETA yet though

Player Announcements / Life Update

Hey DA,

First of all I want to say that's it's incredibly brave of you to put yourself out there in the open like this. It shows a great deal of emotional maturity and definitely helps us understand where you're coming from. Being in the position that you're in is not easy, and unfortunately the best we can do is try to be there for you. I think it's fair to say that you should be proud of yourself for recognising something bad, and trying to stop it from getting worse.

Take the time you need, look after yourself. The server can continue without you, but is lesser for the lack of your presence all the same. You're always welcome, and we're always here for you - but don't let us be the crutch. You've done something you needed to do and that's the first step in improving.

This year has been hard, exceptionally hard, for a variety of reasons. So take the time you need to improve your mental health. Speak to professionals. Do whatever you need to do and know that when you feel you can return, or IF you feel you can return, let it be because you want to come back to something healthy rather than an unhealthy relationship with the server. As much as we love having you around, it's better that you take care of yourself first.

Whatever you need, we're here.

Waiting for you for when you're ready for us.

Well it's simple, the person with 150 HP was able to deflect the blow to be a scratch.

I think adding magic into the equation is definitely important. Remember without magic items we couldn't hit 700+ HP, if you are a normal human and go purely into CON and are rolling a Barbarian you will have 360 HP. That's the absolute maximum that a character that hasn't ascended past mortal means can achieve without magical aid, and that's only with the aid of letting the rest of their stats suffer quite severely.

My personal interpretation is sort of a brackets/percentage system. It makes sense that as Wizards level up and go adventuring they would get tougher and better at defending themselves but the fact remains that they spend very little time dodging, blocking, ducking, diving, and rolling around - and as such their HP reflects that. They don't get half as tough as your Barbarians who are constantly getting hit, and getting in the thick of it.

So HP does represent your ability to take a blow, but it does not represent only that. It also represents your ability to parry a lethal blow into a non-lethal one, to turn major life-threatening injuries into ones that you can endure. Think of it like Riddick - the character knows exactly where to get stabbed to make it so he can endure, and what would be lethal so he fights with that in mind. When he can't avoid a blow he takes it and that results in HP loss, but the HP loss has less impact on him than it would on someone that doesn't have that same understanding.

So my personal reasoning is that it does represent how many blows you can take, but also how good you are avoiding lethal damage (which is also why CON us the stat used to avoid death). So a blow dealing 50 damage has a very different meaning to a character that has 120 HP than to one with 40 HP despite them being the same level.

General Discussion / Quest sign ups

The forums have always been the primary method of advertising quests and I don't see that changing. They are sometimes also posted in the Discord.

I don't see this changing any time soon, as there's not really a much cleaner method of doing it.

Would you be allowed to ask for the no XP token?

Problem is I know some servers are weird about just sitting with levels not taken, and I wasn't sure whether that would be an option or what the official stance on doing that would be (since technically it could mean you could be level 13 for ages then boom, level 21 - unrealistic but possible)

Would it be possible to have characters have the auto-fairy completely turned off if you want to have a character that is deliberately within a certain level range.

This would be especially nice for older players who want to specifically help out newer players within a certain level range.
