Scroll, Potion, and Wand Crafting

  • Increased gold cost on all scrolls by 50%. Decreased gold cost on all potions by 25%. Wands are unchanged. This now makes potions the cheapest to craft, followed by scrolls, then wands.

  • Changed the XP cost formula to be independent of gold cost, and instead be calculated as 1 + item caster level + 1 per spell innate level. Overall this will reduce XP costs for high level spells, but may slightly increase the cost of some low level spells.

  • Metamagic wands can now be crafted (extended, empowered, maximized). Metamagic wands have an increased XP and Gold cost, increased by the metamagic spell slot level increase. The XP formula is 1 + item caster level + (1 per spell innate level * (1 + metamagic spell slot level increase)). Gold is plus an additional 50% per metamagic spell slot level increase.

  • Innate level 7, 8 and 9 spells for scroll crafting now requires T4 diamond powdered spell ink found in loot. The following spells also require an additional material component for crafting:

    • Crusade now requires Holy Ointment.

    • Energy Immunity now requires Malachite Dust.

    • Gate now requires Planar Tuning Forks.

    • Implosion now requires Flawless Lodestones.

    • Mordenkainen's Disjunction now requires Hizagkuur Shavings.

    • Premonition now requires Polished Mirror Fragments.

    • Shadow Double now requires Shadow Powder.

    • Time Stop still requires Dragon Blood.

    Overall, these changes are aimed at making potions and wands competitive options with scrolls; reducing XP costs for crafting; providing more options for players to trade for items from crafters by trading spell ink; and adjusting the ready availability of some high level scrolls to adjust and rebalance the spell item economy on the server.

    The drop rates of ink and material components may be tweaked over time as we try to strike a balance, but we'd like to encourage people to first wait for the economy to settle in as people begin to first collect these new items first before we plan any tweaks.

Areas

  • Fixed War Wizards in Eagles Peak who really wanted to sit.

  • Fixed numerous broken shops in different module areas after the 30+ separate generic shop scripts that had been added over time by various builders that had been merged into one global script in a previous update, which broke a few outlying shops that had been setup in non-standard ways.

  • Minimap exploration and pins now persist across server restarts.
    • Pins and tile exploration are not persistent in event or player areas.
    • Tile exploration will be reset in areas if the area's layout is changed in a module update.

  • Added a pettable frog to Wayside Refuge.

Classes

  • Fixed Red Wizard's Spell Power feat's bonus incorrectly scaling at the wrong levels.

  • Fixed Fellfrost Cross attempting to damage plot placeables and doors.

  • Fixed Dragon Breath attempting to damage plot placeables and doors.

  • Fixed goad not being considered a finessable weapon for duelists.

  • Fixed duelist's damage bonus being applied to unarmed attacks if a finessed weapon was unequipped.

  • Fixed Demonic Servitor to allow Zuggtmoy as a valid deity.

Spells

  • Fixed Alter Self not correctly updating creature size until the character changed areas.

  • Fixed Alter Self being able to be used when polymorphed, which resulted in various bugs and exploits.

  • Summons will now appear in your /viewspells menu and can be dismissed.

  • The following spells will now only override the same spell on a target if the new spell is cast at an equal or higher caster level:

    • Bless
    • Silversteel Veil
    • Crusade
    • Recitation
    • Prayer

  • The following spells will not be applied/replace a higher spell if a higher spell in its spell line is already active. (ordered by highest to lowest):

    • Crusade > Recitation> Prayer

Other

  • Fixed some cases where the death screen would incorrectly report you as being petrified if you were petrified earlier.

  • Fixed tailoring systems having to make a separate copy of an edited item for every edit made to the item, which often resulted in item's being dropped to the ground if you didn't have at least one full inventory tab's worth of space available.

  • Fixed global pawnshop inventories not resetting correctly.

  • Fixed Dragon Disciple and Hellbred's vision buffs stacking with itself.

Builders

  • Migrated all 3000+ treasure loot items out of our treasure area into the item palette under a new Treasure Table category. On the player side, this won't be a noticeable change. On the developer's side, this will allow much faster and easier access to adding or editing loot items.

    Loot items in the palette accept a few variables for configuring randomized item stack sizes or charges:

    • string CDT_ITEM_CHARGES to set the amount of charges to spawn a loot item with. This accepts flat numbers, die rolls, and additions. ie: 20 + 2d6

    • string CDT_ITEM_STACKSIZE to set the amount of items in a stack to spawn a loot item with. This accepts flat numbers, die rolls, and additions. ie: 20 + 2d6

CD4 Hak Update v4.01a1

This update is a major content update, adding new tilesets or tileset options to our haks, and bundles previously hotfixed patches into an official release for builders.

Tilesets

  • Renamed City Interior \w Blank Rooms to City Interior 1 Extended
  • Added CEP extended City Interior tiles to City Interior 1 Extended.
  • Added CEP extended Castle Interior 1 tiles to Castle Interior 1 Extended.
  • Added pillarless versions of every Castle Interior 1 Extended Stone Room tile.
  • Removed Castle Interior ceiling override for compatibility with extended tiles.
  • Added Sen's Rural Inn.
  • Added Keep Interior.

Items

  • Removed the minimum property requirement from potions, which allows for empty propertyless potion items to be created.
  • Added a Treasure Table item category palette to migrate the server's loot treasure tables to, which will allow faster loot item additions or updates by the development team.

Snaer has been removed from staff after a comprehensive investigation concerning strong arming players that came across as bullying; metagaming and misusing access to privileged staff information; and attempting to break the confidentiality between players and staff in relation to confidential complaints/reports.

We have a zero tolerance policy for bullying or harassment from any member of staff, and take confidentiality between players and staff very seriously to protect our community against retaliatory action from accused staff. Attempting to circumvent this isn't something we find acceptable from any staff member, even if the intentions were innocuous.

After discussions between the admin team and Snaer, Snaer has been profusely and sincerely apologetic for any harm they may have intentionally or unintentionally caused, and as such we would still like to welcome them among our community as a player who is looking to do better.

If anyone has any questions or concerns, please know that our and the SDMs inboxes are always open and that we take all complaints forwarded to us be it concerning a staff member or a player very seriously, and our primary goal is always the protection of you, our players.

Black Venus has been removed from staff as a result of disciplinary action for breaching the sanctity and protections of the confidentiality between player and staff complaints/reporting to retaliate against a player and for the continuation of bullying and harassment behavior Black Venus had previously been warned against. This breach in confidentiality was gained through another staff member who has also been removed from staff.

Heya folks!

Many of us like to use Discord as a filehost to share files, images, screenshots, etc with one another. These uploaded files are collectively known as attachments. Linking to attachments from outside of Discord, such as uploading a screenshot to discord and then posting that screenshot's attachment file url to the forums, is known as hotlinking.

In the very near future Discord will be preventing hotlinking attachments. This means that files hosted on discord and then linked to from outside of Discord such as on the forums, will not be accessible from the forums.

We ask that everyone please use actual filehosts for sharing files on the forums and not hotlink to Discord attachments.

For sharing images such as screenshots, www.imgur.com is an excellent free image host.
For sharing other files, we recommend using either Google Drive or Dropbox.

nb. If you share files from Google Drive, please be aware that it also publicly exposes your email address, profile picture, and google account first name/last name; which isn't always desired by everyone.

Dropbox will likewise expose the first name/last name attached to your Dropbox account, but Dropbox is easier to change the name that's associated with the account.

We've updated our policy on player housing to now allow additional player homes for epic level characters.

A player can now own a player home and/or business for any of their characters, plus additional player homes for each of their epic characters to live in if that character does not already own a home.

We have updated the application process for bladesingers with the goal of making the PRC more accessible and reducing the amount of friction required for applying for one. Bladesinger was admittedly difficult to apply for as it required a long mentoring process that required either another PC bladesinger (of which there were few of), or required a DM (of which a DM wasn't always guaranteed to be available).

We have removed this requirement for mentoring.

Instead, there are two routes for a character to become a bladesinger:

1. Apply for bladesinger in your proposed character build and goals with a new character in a Unusual or Noble Character Application request that explains the character's path toward becoming a bladesinger.

2. Apply for bladesinger post-creation, having met either one of these requirements during roleplay: Aided and protected elven society in a DM quest OR can be vouched for by a current active bladesinger PC or NPC.

As bladesinger elevates an elf's standing within elven society to being noble-adjacent, characters applying for bladesinger post-creation require a more complete application form akin to an Unusual/Exotic Race Character or Noble Character request. Characters approved to become a bladesinger are assumed to have passed their bladesinger trials.

CD4 Hak Update v4.00b3

v4.00b3 is an update patch primarily aimed at fixing some outstanding 2da or art asset issues and adding some content needed for our Winterfest Festival event. No downloads will be issued for builders with this patch; changes will be propagated for download in our next major content update v4.01a1 next year.

Classes

  • Dragon Disciple

    • Removed Dragon Disciple's dragon breath and fire immunity feat grants from class level up. These grants have been handled in script for the past few years to account for our different dragon disciple types. Having them in the 2da added extra unnecessary work for non-standard dragon disciple LETOs.

  • Swordmage

    • Added missing racial spell-like abilities/feats from Swordmage's class radial menu.

    • Fixed Flame Gauntlet and Lightning Fury incorrectly being able to target the ground.

Heads

  • Fixed eyelashes on various Dafana heads incorrectly using the hair color channel. This change fixes some glaring visual issues with characters using stark contrasting skin and hair colors such as drow and duergar characters. For the majority of other characters this change won't be noticeable.

Other

  • Added Winterfest Festival event content.

All discord servers including the Cormyr and the Dalelands' main community discord server are optional and players are never required to join any of our discord servers; though it is highly encouraged to join at least the main community discord server. All important server information, announcements, quests, and applications are always served through our forums.

18. Cormyr and the Dalelands' Discord Servers

At times, additional subsidiary discord servers may be created for factions, social hubs, or DM plots to help facilitate roleplay, communication, scheduling and organization, and community growth in those spaces. All discord servers including the Cormyr and the Dalelands' main community discord server are optional and players are never required to join any of our discord servers; though it is highly encouraged to join at least the main community discord server. All important server information, announcements, quests, and applications are always served through our forums.

Any subsidiary discord server created for Cormyr and the Dalelands falls into one of the following three categories:

  • Faction and Social Hub Servers
    Each official server faction or social hub may have a discord server available for its members for facilitating play times, roleplay, sharing screenshots, memes, general chit-chat, or for anything else required by its members and DMs. These servers may at times also be used by our dungeon masters for advertising ad-hocs or for quests posted on the forums.

    Some faction or social hub servers may have public channels for guests to join; others may be closed entirely to faction members only; depending on the needs of the faction.

    All faction and social hub servers require the presence of Cormyr and the Dalelands' admins in them, and each discord server must be owned by an admin. Senior dungeon masters must have available access to all channels for moderation purposes. Additional roles and privileges within each discord server may be given out to different discord members based on their needs or role within the server.

    All faction and social hub servers are governed under Cormyr and the Dalelands' community discord rules, but may have additional rules specific to that discord server.


  • DM Plot Servers
    DM Plot servers are up to the discretion of each DM on whether they want to create a plot specific discord server for their players. DM Plot discord servers may be temporary and closed at the conclusion of a plot, or left open in an archived state, depending on the wishes of the DM.

    Joining a DM Plot discord server is never required for any player to sign up for any quest, though joining a DM's plot discord server is encouraged if one is created as it gives you a direct line of communication with the DM for any questions relating to the plot, and it can help facilitate event scheduling or off-screen roleplay with other players.

    DM Plot servers are governed under Cormyr and the Dalelands' community discord rules, but do not require the presence of an admin in them.


  • Player Guild Servers
    Players may freely create their own private discord servers for their player guilds. These servers are considered by the staff to be private and owned by the players. Admins or other server staff are not required to be present in player guild discord servers, though a lack of staff presence does not mean that conduct within these servers isn't subject to our server's rules.

  • Fixed Blink Strike not stunning the NPC when crashing into objects.

  • Fixed Unstable Golem's grease spray not being a proper AOE.

  • Added various configuration options for all boss abilities for builders and DMs.

  • DMs can disable abilities on NPCs after having set them.

  • Acid spit now ramps up damage based on the amount of time a creature has spent standing in the acid, rather than the lifetime of the acid itself.

  • Rebalanced acid spit's default damage configuration for DMs. Acid spit now does 0.7% damage per second spent in the pool every second up to a maximum of 7% damage per second.

  • Fixed Meteor Swarm.


AI

  • Fixed various module NPCs missing weapon proficiency feats after class and racial proficiencies were deprecated in 4.10d1.

Other

  • Damage formula strings as used in /damageme, area heartbeat damage variables, etc now support summing multiple damage rolls deliminted by a plus sign (+). eg: 20 + 6d10, 1d20 + 10%.

  • Damage formula strings now accepts floats.

Builders

  • Fixed POPUP_FLAVOR_TEXT area enter event.


Dungeon Masters

  • /setupbossnpc now also sets NO_WHIRLWIND 1 which will make the NPC immune to Whirlwind's CC effect. NPCs will still take damage from standing in whirlwind and failing their saves.
