What: A concert will be held at Brightwater Hall with Nadhia and pals for fun and charity. All proceeds will be donated to the House of Refuge orphanage.

Ask the Staff Anything / Sneak mode for RP
Last post by Grahf - Nov 08, 2025, 05:15 AMJust want to clarify if sneak mode can be used as RP tool to simulate IC just trying to be inconspicuous. This is mostly done in open spaces in cities and some indoor areas like shops and inns(not in private rooms). I'm basically using it like a visual tag and I've been informed that sneak mode doesn't really work in cities. Doing a passive observer as part of my RP in one character, not to spy on anyone. I hope I'm not breaking any rules, and if I am, I can stop doing it and find other ways to RP it.

Turtle & I will be leaving for vacation October 24th and returning on November 1st! We've never traveled with a dialysis cycling machine; so, this will be an adventure.
Jocelyn will be camping with Koji for the week; so he might be scarce, too. My other PCs and turtle's PCs are doing their usual studying & training.

aDM Lilim has been incredible in helping me set up two unique characters with grace, efficiency, and genuine enthusiasm. It's clear that she knows her craft inside and out, and her support made the entire process smooth and inspiring. aDM Lilim has shown care and compassion to me, and I have witness that same care and compassion extended to others on the server. She is a top flight DM and a fine example of a good human being. She is one of my favorite human beings for her wit, her kindness and her boundless enthusiasm. I am proud to know her.
aDM Seraphim ran my first DM-led event over the last month and a half, and it was nothing short of amazing. The storytelling, pacing, and atmosphere made for an unforgettable experience. Not only was she endlessly patient with my schedule, making sure to include me and make me feel part of the story despite me having a difficult schedule, she told a wonderful story that will stick with me for a long time. aDM Seraphim is a hard working and responsible DM, taking great cares to provide players with the best experiences in all she participates in. Not only is she a great DM, but she is also one of my favorite human beings for her care, her grace, and just being her. I am honored to know her.
It's hard to believe that it's been about a year since I joined CD, after a 20-year break from NWN and several less-than-stellar RP experiences on other platforms. When I met Lilim and Seraphim—back when they were still players—their creativity, energy, and genuine passion for roleplay reignited my love for this world. I've had the privilege of watching them craft phenomenal stories and deliver deeply impactful RP, first as fellow players and now as aDMs.
Both of these DMs are friendly, hardworking, and endlessly creative. Their passion for the game, the community, and especially for immersive, outstanding storytelling is truly a gift to the player base.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Last post by SpacePope - Oct 07, 2025, 11:30 AMWe've not really had any issue with it because PvP, while allowed, is extremely rare on the server. Metagaming incidents thus remain relatively rare as we're all collaborating while writing a story.

Should you wish to engage in such conflict, it should be with fully willing participants and preferably folks that you've vetted yourself to not be the metagaming sort, if that's something that would concern you.

Whether you want to admit or deny it, whenever you are doing something hidden, such as sneaking and you have to tell people that you are there it will more or less be an OOC-meta game thing that will cause people to act differently. I've been playing NWN since 2002 and on plenty of servers where rules like this were a thing and it ultimately caused a HEAP of OOC-metagaming behavior.
While two friends might be hidden down an alleyway talking about mugging someone, if you have to announce yourself in damn near every case, they characters will stop acting as they naturally would. I've seen it happen way to many times for anyone to convince me otherwise--as a player and as a DM.
Is this still enforced or an old rule that just never made it to being cleaned out?
