Quote from: SpacePope on Jul 23, 2026, 03:06 PMFor HIPS: the main reason is that while you're stealthed in party, if people can't see you, they can't see your text either, and most prefer being able to RP emotes and such that are seen by the rest of their party member over thinking their messages can be read while they can't. At least that's the reasoning I remember Fox giving back when that was implemented, iirc.

Isn't that what Party Chat is for? Couldn't Quest Chat be used, as well? Just curious. Before the See Stealthed PCs script was added, I used Party Chat while HiPs'd when I needed to communicate.

I was thinking on the Discord meme of B3 Arabel Sewers and an idea hit me for Adhocs; why not have a selection of easily adjustable areas for adhocs for places like deeper in the sewers and forests around Arabel/Yulash; same could even potentially be done for the underdark. If memory serves, that's the biggest difficulties in running an adhoc is custom building an area for it, no?

Suggestions & Ideas / Upgrade Lightning Peak
Last post by falchions_and_cunning - Aug 07, 2026, 09:42 AM
The pitch: Lightning Peak feels strange as a T4 dungeon when compared to existing T5 and T6 dungeons. Demons, Mariliths, and the like feel a step up from creatures populating some dungeons that are even higher in tier, such as gnolls and bullywugs.

To add on to the talk about why HIPS is the way it is, please review our roleplay rules on stealth which includes Hide in Plain Sight: https://wiki.cormyrdalelands.com/en/roleplayrules

In essence: Hide in Plain Sight is NOT invisibility. It allows you to break line of sight while observed, but per server rules you will still be seen if you make zero attempt to actually hide. This includes but is not limited to: Using Hide in Plain Sight to 'vanish' into a crowded city street in the middle of the day, sitting in HiPS in plain view of everyone with absolutely zero cover, etc.. Stealth is currently how it is as a limitation of the game engine to, in part, put these rules into practice.

So please, bear those rules in mind and remember that just because someone mechanically can not see you it does not mean that they realistically cannot see you.

@IronGauntlets oh don't get me wrong! i am under no impression that any building or scripting is a simple matter and i am well aware that all the builders and scriptors and DMs are vulenteers... things take time... and they should take time and personal matters take priority :D

There's a lot of things that could be said about these requests, but I will only answer to the one relevant to the role I hold now:

Building the world takes a lot of time and all of us are volunteers. Sure it is old and could use a lot of touch-ups as well as some excitement added into it, but in the end, it takes someone sitting down and doing all the work while balancing every other part of that builder's life. Have some patience, it's not a quick process and much of it takes a lot of hours of manpower just to do. Things are being redone and rebuilt. We want the world to have life breathed into it as much as anyone else does.

Two Weapon Fighting:
i looked up the tempest, seems pretty neat actually... take five levels and get a remarkable advantage to your Two Weapon Fighting.
but... isn't that akin to taking away from and limiting potential build variety by locking it to a class? one could even argue that the Tempest retains it's current model and a stand alone set of feats of lesser potency are made available to the feat list... if possible, of course.

Deflect Arrows:
Fair.

HIPS and Stealth:
may i ask why such a decision was made? i have heard some folk mention that the "Anti stealth" system on towns like Arabel were put in place because some stealthy folk couldn't keep their nose in their own coffee and made a real mess of some sensitive topics that were being discussed by third party individuals... personally i am of the camp that says not to discuss sensitive things in the open, whisper or not that's just stupid... that being said... i get it... i don't like it but i get it.
i do not get the application of a similar system to parties as being beneficial at all... quite the contrary... as mentioned above i find it rather annoying and it gets in the way of my form of story telling and character building... so what's the argument for it?
not speaking against it... ok i kind of am but i get the feeling that the decision is final and no matter what i say won't change it...  i am curious though.

Teleportation:
i mean... let them cry about it? ;)
but i get you... it's a damn shame though... would really love seeing a risk factor being added to teleportation.

The World:
uuh! sounds interesting! will be looking forward to it.

/customize NUI:
Score!

RPxp:
yeah i don't expect it changed or completely reworked, which is why i mention things like adding additional rewards to clearing dungeons like a small RPxp reward on a boss kill as a motivator to get out there!
in the time i've been on the server i did not find the motivation to go for a dungeon since my combat XP were full and money was not important and neither was gear so why bother with a dungeon? it's just redundant. basically, make running a dungeon matter more.
my character is lvl 28... it's limited what use i will personally get out of it unless i roll another character... which i find unlikely.
the new bounties have had the effect of getting people out of the square! awesome! brilliant! but i fear it won't last as the novelty of getting more loot wares off.
just my two cents really...
on another note... still wouldn't mind seeing the overall XP gain from combat be dialed way down! maxing out combat XP on 3 dungeon runs is just... waaay too little effort.

Two Weapon Fighting: What you're suggesting is what the Tempest class gets.

Deflect Arrows: Not doable as far as I know, that entire thing is blackboxed in the engine (and not really worth making a NWNX plugin for)

HIPS: Not going to be changed. Stealthed party members being visible is an intended decision we made.

Teleportation: I agree that teleportation is too available and we've made moves to restrict it in the past year, such as adding the requirement to have visited the area before, and limiting scrolls for sale. These were also changes that led to days and days of arguments on the Discord, making some players particularly angry. Honestly, much as I'd wish to restrict it further, it's not worth the fight and dealing with the endless drama from unpopular changes is draining in a way that makes me stop wanting to develop for the server so it's just not worth it.

The World: The server has over 1300 areas. We've slowly been updating it, and I've added features such as random boss encounters, but it's a lot of builder work. Consider it a slow but in-progress thing.

/customize NUI: Sure, added.

RPxp reward: You've been here for 5 years so you've seen the endless arguments about it and know why it's not gonna change :P
