Shouldn't this affect Bards as well since they apply the -Spell Failure% to light armor with the OnEquip/OnUnEquip scripts as well?

No. Bardic spell failure reduction properties are added to player skins.

The only reason Spellsword does it differently is because it needs to handle armor and shields independently.
