Of the Yuirwood, of Thayan occupation and tyranny.

Sianthé only lived the first five years of her life among the half-elves in the Yuirwood, and many of her memories of that place and time are long gone; many of her earliest memories are within Thay and the Wizard's tower she served. A child, raised into slavery and service where there she was neither happy nor upset. Life in service to another was simply the way it was for her, and rigidity shaped much of her adherence to Law in her life thereafter.

Punishment often saw Sianthé isolated and kept in the dark, where there her resolve broke and she began to no longer fear the dark, but welcome it. Fortunately for her, the Wizard she served had struck some sort of deal with the local Sharran sect, and for reasons unbeknownst to Sianthé herself, she was taken in by the Night Mother of a sect there and trained to be part of the clergy. Of middling achievement and low importance besides, she was taught the ways of Sharran faith and learned the path of a cleric, where nothing but her devotion to her Dark Lady carried her. She spent many more of her years in the darkness of this place, practicing prayer and witnessing what little she could of Thayan and Sharran political relations.

When she came of age, she was tasked with venturing out into the world to achieve a task for Shar and for her sect. Destabilizing Selunite temples, securing an offshoot of her main sect elsewhere in the world for political gain -- anything that would benefit a higher power, and when she was sent out to the world, she was sent out alone. Other priests from her sect were given proper supplies and a guardian, but Sianthé was neglected and paid little mind to. Oblivious to this, however, she wandered - and wandered - and wandered, all until she stumbled into Yulash, where she had meant only to take a rest, and found others of her faith to ground her.

When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up. - C. S. Lewis
