Childhood
12/25/2017

There was no such thing as being late
everyone got a slice of cake
Always more food for your plate
... and we'd never get old

Sipping lemonade on the porch
Licking ice cream cones at the shore
Campfires and cooking s'mores
... no we'd never get old

Picnics under the shady trees
Unconcerned with bumble bees
Bare feet and skinned-up knees
... we will never be old

Swinging rope and tire swings
Make up the words as we sing
Had no worries about anything
... no we'll never be old

Curfew was when the sun went down
Wandered home after running 'round
The whole town was our playground
... pffft who is getting old?

No such thing as losing time
Afraid of being left behind
Only bane is the waiting line
... blech don't want to get old

Daredevils, we were fearless
Our energy was ever endless
Inventors, imaginative and tireless
... no we'll never get old
