I remember seeing in a post from Vincent07 that you get special class benefits from being a level 25 barbarian. Does the 5 levels of battle rage count?

So In essence a 20 barb / 5 rager would have the bonuses of the 25 barb thus allowing you 5 levels of a different class if you so chose?

I believe so, but I'm not 100% certain on that one.

Class:
- Barbarian: Corrected weight values on the Dodge AC bonus to allow the full range of medium armor. Also allowed shield use excluding Tower shields.

- Barbarians now gain a bonus to Dodge AC if they are not in heavy armor or using a shield. This bonus is +2 at level 5 and +4 at level 10. This bonus will NOT stack with bonuses from Invisible Blade, Duelist or Bladesinger.

Barb rage was changed to work as detailed here.

Yes battlerager levels count as barbarian levels I have one...this is what Wulgar is.
