To borrow the thread, rather than start another one, I got a call last night. My grandfather has been ill, so family members have been sitting with him. While I was doing that, I normally take the overnight shift, my mother called me, letting me know that she had found my stepfather had passed while she was asleep.

After being in the hospital since Christmas Day, my grandfather passed away in the early hours of the morning. We had an opportunity to say goodbye to him, and I'm told that he went fairly peacefully. He'd become non-responsive towards the end of his hospital stay, so I hope that he didn't suffer in the days leading up to today.
